EDMT to hold auditions for ‘Curtains’

By
April 25, 2011 |

El Dorado Musical Theatre kicks off the summer with auditions for “Curtains,” Saturday, May 21, at 9 a.m. Auditions will be held at EDMT’s rehearsal facility located in the El Dorado Hills Business Park at 5011 Golden Foothill Parkway, Suite 4.

“Curtains” is a whodunit murder mystery rolled into a musical. Set in 1959 Boston, it takes place backstage on the opening night of “Robbin’ Hood,” A new musical of the Old West.

The leading lady, Jessica Cranshaw, is murdered during her opening night curtain call. Lt. Frank Cioffi is called in to solve the case, save the show, and get the girl before the curtain rises.

Memorable tunes include “What Kind of Man,” “Thataway” and “Thinking of Him.” It’s a high energy murder mystery with twists and turns, fabulous dance numbers and classic show-stopping music. Performances run from July 22 to  July 31, at Three Stages at Folsom Lake College.

All who audition should dress to dance and be prepared to sing a song of up to one minute in length to either a background CD, a capella or with the piano accompanist.

Pre-registration for auditions will take place online at edmt.info beginning Tuesday, May 10, at 8 p.m. and ending on Thursday, May 19, at 11:59 p.m. Walk-ups on audition day will be accepted if time allows.

“Curtains” is open to performers between the ages of 13-20 years old.

For more information about registration, roles or fees, visit  edmt.info or call 916-941-SING.
