If you enjoy listening to a variety of popular and show tunes, then circle your calendar for Friday, Oct. 5. That is when Partners in Care will hold its ninth annual A Night at the Theater at the Shakespeare Club at 2940 Bedford Ave.
The non-profit community based program that helps raise the quality of life for people who are dealing with serious or life threatening illness.
“We do that with at home visits and telephone calls by our nurses, chaplains and social workers, to try to address any kind of issues that come up related to them with any kind of illness.” said Nancy Symons, executive director for Partners in Care. “Our mission is to support the dignity and choice of people in our community as they walk the path of serious illness.”
The entertainment for this year’s event is Partners in Song, a group of 16 people from the Sacramento area who are scheduled to sing and popular and show tunes. The group is part of a popular Sacramento chorus group.
“They just happen to be generous people (giving their time for Partners in Care),” Symons said.
In previous years, Storied Voices, a group of women also from Sacramento, performed at A Night at the Theater. They “did story telling in entertaining fashion with song. We used them for years,” Symons said. But the group disbanded, she noted.
A silent and live auction will take place before Partners in Song’s performance, Symons said. Some of the items expected at the auction are custom jewelry, original art that includes a framed Federal Duck Stamp print, Adams Ironstone dishes, wine baskets and an assortment of gift and weaver baskets.
“Our live auction will be an opportunity to support our clients and will feature individuals who will be sharing their stories of being helped by Partners in Care,” Symons said. “Last year that was a very powerful part of our program.”
Diane Wilkinson Catering will provide appetizers for the event. Various wineries from El Dorado County will provide various selections of their wines, Symons said.
Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door the night of the show. Tickets can be purchased at Partners in Care, located at 2954 Cold Springs Road in Placerville.
Proceeds from the event goes toward people who need Partners in Care’s assistance, Symons said.
“The money will go to support the work that we do with the people who are seriously ill,” Symons said. “it’s a combination of direct clinical services supporting what the staff does.”
