Charter University Prep, formerly known as Charter Smith Flat, a local public high school located at the Charles F. Brown School campus in El Dorado, will be presenting “Skits & Pieces,” a night of short comedic sketches and one-act plays, directed by Frederico “Pico” van Houtryve’s drama students.

Charter University Prep is well known in the community for its high-quality theater arts productions.

This spring, special thanks, praise and distinction are due to CU Prep students Alex Ferrand, Samantha Edens, John Verzello and Skyler Jester who directed these motley and eclectic productions and their highly spirited casts.

The plays include original scripts by Alannah Wing (“Castlewood Inn”) and Skyler Jester (“Camelot”) as well as tried and true favorites, such as “How to Succeed in High School Without Really Trying” by Jonathan Rand.

Instructor van Houtryve, a former award-winning California newspaper photojournalist, replaced David Combs as the English/French/drama teacher last year. He also teaches visual communication, a senior English elective and photography.

The cast and crew for “Skits & Pieces” are: Gracie Dean, Alannah Wing, Kristin Barney, Dakota Delano, Kathleen Kelly, Sean Kelly, Ella Evans, Paige Downie, Alex Ferrand, Samantha Edens, Kayleigh Talley, Rebecca Kent, Ryan Koban, Giana Graziano, John Verzello, Jacob Gray, Skyler Jester, Daniel Wright, Kylie Baratta and Shelby Heagy

This not-to-be-missed production will be performed in the multi-purpose room of the former Charles F. Brown School, 6520 Oak Dell Road in El Dorado. Admission is $2 for children and $3 for adults. There will be one performance on Wednesday, May 15 at 7 p.m.

For more information e-mail van Houtryve at fvanhoutryve@edcoe.org.
