Women’s History Day free events will take place throughout Old Sacramento State Historic Park on Saturday, March 29 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Dressed in 19th century period attire, men and women will show how men’s and especially women’s fashion has changed throughout the decades. Living History re-enactors will showcase their hand-made historic attire from the 1850s, ’60s, ’70s and ’80s.
The origins of “Women’s History Month” as a national celebration date back to 1981 when Congress identified a week in March as “Women’s History Week.”
In 1995, the celebration was expanded to the entire month and the tradition continues.
