Markleeville artists will hold their 10th annual Autumn Open Studio Tour the weekend of Oct. 6-7 from 11 a.m.to 4 p.m.
Ten years of Autumn Colors and Art. It’s hard to believe this small Sierra community of artists has been opening their studios to the over 400 annual visitors for a decade.
And all this is accomplished on a grass-roots level — just creative people finding a way to create a special and unique event.
Come to Alpine County and spend the day visiting the studios of village artists creating oil paintings, watercolors pottery, photography, and stained glass. Local restaurants will be participating as well, offering specials throughout the weekend to celebrate the 10th year of studio tours.
Charles Muench will be releasing his first book, Markleeville Memories — Paintings of a Sierra Town at the Raymond View Road studio.
The tour of the artists studios is free. Maps with directions to the Markleeville-vicinity homes and studios will be available during the weekend at the Alpine County Chamber of Commerce.
The guide includes the artists descriptions and locations. Bright yellow and gold banners will be hanging throughout town, marking each artist’s studio.
Markleeville is located 25 miles south of Lake Tahoe and 60 miles south of Reno. Take Omo Ranch Road to Highway 88 or Highway to Highway 89 south.
