The Falcon’s Eye Theater at Folsom Lake College calls for students and actors from the community to audition 6:30 p.m. Sept. 15 for its fall production of Naomi Iizuka’s Anon(ymous) based on Homer’s “The Odyssey.”
All skill levels are encouraged to audition.
The Falcon’s Eye opens its eighth season with “Anon(ymous).” Separated from his mother, a young refugee named Anon journeys across America, encountering a wide variety of people — some kind, some dangerous and cruel — as he searches for his family. From a sinister one-eyed butcher to beguiling barflies to insidious sweatshop bosses, Anon must navigate a chaotic, ever-changing landscape in this entrancing adaptation of Homer’s the Odyssey.
Auditions will take place at the Drama Lab (PAC-1170) at the Harris Center for the Arts on the Folsom campus of Folsom Lake College, 10 College Parkway (off E. Bidwell Street), Folsom. Two dollar parking permits are available at kiosks located throughout the parking lots.
Auditioners must prepare a monologue that is no more than 60-seconds-long from any stage play. Please no teleplays or screenplays or passages from novels or song lyrics. Also, please no original writing. This monologue should best portray the actor’s strengths and can be of any genre. This monologue must be memorized. It is requested that auditioners bring a full-sized photo-headshot (or photocopy) and resume of acting experience, if available, but this is not required.
Callbacks will be 6:30 p.m. Sept. 16-17, 6:30pm, by invitation only. Auditioners who are called back will also be asked to audition by way of cold readings from the text. Therefore, it is recommended that Auditioners be familiar with the story of Anon(ymous) before auditioning. The script is on e-reserve at the FLC library for those with a Los Rios ID. Auditions and callbacks are expected to run until approximately 10 p.m. each night.
Performance dates are Nov. 7-23. More information can be found at falconseyetheatre.com.
