Foothill dining: Tequila for summer

By From page B2 | August 04, 2014

Tequila is a good summer liquor for fun cocktails. Partida Tequila wants consumers to take some time to truly appreciate tequila for the complex, nuanced liquor it is.

No more throwing back shots and shoving limes in our mouths. Partida Tequila ( wants savvy drinkers to savor the intricate layers of flavor and aroma that can come from a tequila that is treated with care and love from agave plant through distillation and bottling.

Down in the heart of Mexico, Partida Tequila grows 100 percent blue agave for 7-10 years in the Tequila Valley until the plants are perfectly matured before harvest. They are then individually harvested by hand and cooked in stainless steel containers.

Jose Valdez, Partida’s master distiller, oversees the fermentation and distillation of every batch of Partida Tequila for quality control and consistency. The time, care and commitment the Partida Tequila team puts into their “tradition meets innovation” process is reflected in the final products.

• Partida Blanco (not aged) — Partida Blanco is brilliant, clean and crisp; very floral, with notes of citrus. Well balanced with a fresh, pure agave flavor and a pleasant finish that lingers gently on the palate.

• Partida Reposado (aged six months) — Partida Reposado delivers nuances of flavor tequila drinkers may not have thought possible, without the overbearing smoky flavor. Beautiful light amber color with golden tones, transparent and clean, brilliant and full bodied.  Aromas of chocolate and vanilla, hazelnut and almond and a deep, rich finish.

• Partida Añejo (aged 18 months) — Partida Añejo exhibits a depth of flavor that only comes from advanced aging. Intense golden copper color; clean and full bodied. A fruity aroma with notes of cherry, almond and spices. Soft honey fruit tones, with flavors of spices and dried fruits reminiscent of sweet pear and almond and a very pleasant finish.
