Genoa Cowboy Poetry and Music Festival announces juried art show

Western, cowboy, and southwest Indian artists are invited to submit an application to participate in galleries planned as part of the Genoa Cowboy Poetry and Music Festival slated for Thursday, May 5 to Sunday, May 8.

The juried art show will begin with a VIP champagne preview on Thursday evening followed by two full days of gallery showings of the artists’ work for sale.

The jurying fee for the event, which is expected to draw well over a thousand attendees each day, is $20. After being accepted as a part of the jurying process, the gallery fee will be $125.

The Genoa Cowboy Poetry and Music Festival is co-sponsored by the town of Genoa and the Carson Valley Arts Council, and will feature a star-studded lineup of cowboy poets and musicians.

Among those scheduled to appear are Dave Stamey, Wylie and the Wild West, Paul Zarzyski, Belinda Gail, David John and the Comstock Cowboys, Richard Elloyan, Doris Daley, The Old West Trio, Saddle Cats, Sourdough Slim and All Hat No Cattle.

In addition to the many performances, workshops are planned throughout Friday and Saturday, including sessions on storytelling, blacksmithing, leather tooling, saddle making and many more.
