The opening performance of “No Good Deed …,” an original musical/comedy, will be Sunday, April 28 at Foothills United Methodist Church, 3301 Green Valley Road in Rescue. The curtain is at 7 p.m. for the 20th annual Youth Theatrical Production.

This year’s adventure follows the story of a land from long ago, whose struggling inhabitants decide they need someone different to be in charge. While considering this change they don’t consider all the problems that could develop if someone new shows up to take over control of the area.

Things get so much worse so quickly that soon the original person suddenly seems a lot better.

But with this realization, he is nowhere to be found

The adventures and silliness that ensue make for over two hours of fun and laughs for the entire family.

“No Good Deed …” will be performed on Saturday, April 28 at 7 p.m. and then again on Sunday, April 29 at 5 p.m.

“No Good Deed …” was written and directed by Annie and Greg Lamy, youth group leaders and mentors at FUMC for more than 20 years.

The characters in “No Good Deed …” consist of youth group members of FUMC’s junior and senior high youth programs. These youth are students several local junior and senior high schools.

Tickets are available prior to the performances by contacting Foothills Methodist Church at 530-677-4910 or 916-933-6682. Tickets may also be purchased at the door on performance nights but space is limited. Donation ticket prices are $5 for adults, and $3 for Senior Citizens and children 12 years and under.

Refreshments will be available at the intermission for a nominal cost. All funds from this performance of “No Good Deed …” will help with the funding of future FUMC youth activities and programs.

This year’s performance follows in the tradition of past presentations of “Wild Kingdom,” “No Reign in Sight,” “The Heir Head,” “King Con,” “A Midsummer Knight’s Dream,” “A Pirate’s Strife,” “The Prince or the Pauper?,” “Hickules,” “Jack and the Mean Jock,” “Peter Panic,” “The Prince’s Bride,” “Beauty of a Beef,” “Fur Get Me? Not!,” “Can’t Buy Me Luck,” “The Lyin’ King,” “Robin’s Hoods,” “Sleeping Beauty: The Untold Story”, “Rumple’s Revenge,” and “Snow White and the Seven Dweebs.”

It is wonderful to see FUMC's youth play in the Demo. However, opening is Sat. April 27 at 7pm. The Sunday performance is at 5pm.
