Grants available for senior organizations

The Friends of Seniors organization has, with a very dedicated core group of individuals, been working together this year as it continues to raise awareness of the needs of the senior population as well as raise funds to further its mission to support “wellness, dignity and independence of El Dorado County seniors and their caregivers.”

Friends of Seniors was the recipient of an estate gift this year from one of their long-time senior friends, Ruth Sherrard.

Sherrard’s legacy gift, combined with Friends of Senior fundraising efforts and the endowed Friends of El Dorado County Seniors Fund at the El Dorado Community Foundation, is making it possible for the group to award multiple $1,000 grants to worthy nonprofit organizations that provide programs and services to seniors in El Dorado County.

The El Dorado Community Foundation has long been aware of the specific needs of the older adult population and is proud to partner with Friends of Seniors as they continue this important outreach.

A simple grant application form is available at the El Dorado Community Foundation Office, 312 Main St., Suite 201, Placerville, or online at the Website eldoradocf.org.

Applications are also available at the Friends of Seniors’ Website friendsofEDCseniors.org.

Applications are due by 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 30 by mail to Friends of Seniors, PO Box 564, Placerville, 95667 or by e-mail to [email protected]

For questions or further assistance in applying, feel free to contact Kathi Lishman at 530-626-6323, Friends of Seniors chairwoman.
