Hands4Hope launched a new drive this year, a School Supply Drive, which will benefit children in need in El Dorado County. The drive started July 14 and will end Aug. 3.
The goal of this drive is to provide a backpack filled with necessary school supplies to each child in need before school begins in early August.
To match previous collection efforts made by the Placerville Union School District and to expand the drive to also provide school supplies to students in grades ninth through 12th, the drive will need to collect enough school supplies and backpacks to serve 500 kindergarteners to seniors.
There will be two collection events, each having a donation table collecting supplies on Sunday, July 27 and Sunday, Aug. 3, from noon-2 p.m.
Hands4Hope youth volunteers will be in front of the Office Max, 3041 Forni Road in Placerville. Customers will be able to purchase prepackaged supply kits ready for donation.
On Sunday, July 27, Hands4Hope youth volunteers will also be at Sam’s Club Folsom, 2495 Iron Point Road. Sam’s Club customers will be able to purchase requested school supplies and donate as they leave the store. Cash and gift card donations are also appreciated.
In addition to these two collection events, Hands4Hope will be placing donation bins at several businesses throughout El Dorado County.
For more information about the drive or locations of the donation bins visit the Hands4Hope Website at hands4hopeyouth.org.
