Double Barrel Productions presents an evening concert to be held at Christ Community Church in Carmichael.
The Friday, July 6, event starts at 7 p.m. and will feature traditional folk and western music by two fine acoustic groups, Riverbend Folk Band of Sacramento and the Old West Trio of Georgetown.
Riverbend Folk Band comprises four seasoned musicians, including Ron Wilburne and Art Morgan who toured with the New Christie Minstrels for several years.
The audience is sure to be entertained by these gents whose musical careers have spanned several decades.
Reminiscent of folk greats like the Kingston Trio and the Weavers, their acoustic styling includes timeless cowboy, country and bluegrass fiddle tunes.
El Dorado County favorite, Old West Trio — winner of the prestigious Will Rogers Award for 2011 Western Group of the Year by the Academy of Western Artists — performs cowboy and western music, like the classics that were born when Republic Pictures featured stars like Roy Rogers, Gene Autry and the Sons of the Pioneers.
The trio, with members Steve Ide (rhythm guitar), Leslie Ide (upright bass) and Steve Johnson (lead guitar), has recorded six albums, including an all-original album which garnered a top-five nomination for the AWA Album of the Year.
Tickets are available online or from select retailers for a donation of $15 per person.
