IT to hold orchestra auditions

Imagination Theater announces an audition for the orchestra for the theater’s 2013 holiday show, “Les Miserables.”

The audition will be held on Saturday, June 29 from 9 a.m. to noon at Imagination Theater, 100 Placerville Drive in Placerville, on the grounds of the El Dorado County Fairgrounds.

Parts for auditioning include: one bass, one cello, one French horn No. 1, one French horn No. 2, one keyboard No. 1, one keyboard no. 2, one percussion, one reed No. 1 (doubles alto flute, alto recorder, flute, piccolo), one reed No. 2 (doubles coranglais, oboe), one reed No. 3 (doubles Bb clarinet, bass clarinet, Eb clarinet, tenor recorder), one trombone/tuba, one trumpet/flugelhorn, one viola, one violin.

The audition will consist of one unaccompanied prepared piece (or a part of a piece) no longer than 3 minutes. It does not need to be the most challenging work or technically difficult.

Be prepared for some unaccompanied sight reading from the “Les Miserables” score. The show is scheduled for December 2013.
