SOUTH LAKE TAHOE — On Monday, Aug. 13, at the Valhalla Boathouse Theatre in South Lake Tahoe, Jesse Kalin will take center stage performing his original music in an intimate concert setting. With over 20 original songs written, Kalin will share material that has not been heard before.
“After many years of performing cover songs and singing my heart out, I’ve decided to put together a concert of my original songs. That’s right, all original songs,” Kalin said. “During this show, I will be able to share what I’ve been writing. This will allow everyone to really take in the music and enjoy the evening in a wonderful setting.”
“The Tahoe Tallac Association is proud to be able to showcase great local talent. This year, we are especially pleased to present Jesse Kalin. The Boathouse Theatre is the perfect venue to enjoy an evening of Jesse’s original music,” said Carl Wooland, production coordinator.
The Tahoe Tallac Association sponsors the Valhalla Summer Arts and Music Festival, which is held throughout the Tallac Site.
The festival includes a variety of events for adults and children lasting from late June into September: concerts ranging from bluegrass to jazz to Cajun music; art exhibits featuring the finest regional artists, and art workshops designed for children.
The annual festival is a unique celebration of music and the visual arts. These upscale events are set against the magnificent backdrop of Lake Tahoe and the Tallac Historic Site.
The festival is in its 32nd year and is produced by the Tahoe Tallac Association.
Kalin has been pursuing and perfecting his first love: music.
His original band, Moon Dogs, traveled extensively across the United States in the early ’90s opening for such artists as Peter Frampton, Chicago and REO Speedwagon.
His band Cool Black Kettle, which he formed in the late ’90s released the CD “Move On” in 2002, is performing weekly this summer at Harvey’s Tahoe Live Stage and The Beacon Restaurant.
His radio show, “Jesse Kalin’s Hot Picks and Hot Licks” has been airing daily on KTHO 96.1 FM/590 AM showcasing the local entertainment calendar. He will be in the recording studio this fall working on his first solo CD. Then in September he’ll perform in Sacramento, Seaside and Carmel Valley. Other cities are to be announced.
Doors open at 7 p.m. and showtime is 7:30 p.m.
