Art on the Divide Cooperative Gallery celebrates its fourth year on Sunday, June 8 with the gallery’s annual Garden Party from 3-6 p.m. The artists of AODC wish to extend a big thank you and invite the community to visit the art gallery and rose garden for food and drinks while enjoying musical entertainment provided by local musicians.
This year, AODC saw some exciting changes and the first was joining Divide Friends of the Arts and Historical Society, attaining non-profit status, which provides an opportunity to seek out appropriate grants and have fund-raising activities.
The next change was developing a new advertising slogan, “Art Thrives on the Divide” which is a tribute to the community in appreciation for all the support received.
The gallery has also continued to reach out to the community by offering workshops and encouraging student artists. Student art is periodically displayed in the gallery and AODC contributed to an art scholarship for a local high school student.
As the gradual renovation continues in the historic rose garden, it is a place for workshops and celebrations such as the annual Garden Party. The artists invite everyone to come and browse the gallery, visit with the artists and enjoy food, art and music.
Art On the Divide Cooperative Gallery invites local artists who are interested in joining the cooperative to stop by and pick up an application. The gallery is located in one of Georgetown’s historical buildings at 6295 Main St., between the fire station and the American River Inn. Gallery hours are now 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Thursday through Sunday.
