“You Don’t Have to be a Victim to Disease — Understanding the Relationship Between Nutrition and Disease ” will be hosted by  June Scofield DC at the Mother Lode Chiropractic Center from noon to to 1 p.m. on Thursday. March 7 as part of a free health and wellness event.

The event features Deana Christofferson, “Mom on a Mission,” local health and wellness educator and Dr. Sears, Certified LEAN coach.

During this free lecture attendees will learn how to protect themselves from degenerative disease; why fruits and vegetables are essential in attaining optimal health; the scientific research behind whole food concentrates; how to reduce oxidative stress; how healthy foods build a strong immune system and  how to read food labels and understand the nutritional value.

Christofferson has worked in the health and fitness industry since 1983 as a certified aerobics instructor. She later become a fitness counselor and personal trainer. She has studied nutrition for more than 20 years and has been speaking across the United States and internationally since 1996.

Christofferson said the two biggest highlights of her life are being married to her husband Bob and being the mother to her three sons. She and her family currently reside in Apple Hill.

Her goal for families is to help them understand why it is so vital to eat good, wholesome food and why it’s so important to make healthy lifestyle choices each and every day.

There will be free fruit and veggie smoothie and nutritional bar samples, plus a drawing for all the guests that attend this event.

Mother Lode Chiropractic is located at 941 Spring St., Suite 5, in Placerville. Follow the signs to the conference room.
