Learn how to grow beautiful roses

The Mother Lode Rose Society is presenting a program on “Growing Beautiful Roses Simply.” This is a program filled with interesting ideas on selecting, planting, feeding, deadheading and dealing with the problem that so many growers have with deer.

The society is honored to have past president Beverly Rose Hopper as the speaker at the monthly meeting on Tuesday, April 1 at 1 p.m. at the Amador Senior Center, 229 New York Ranch Road in Jackson.

She will elaborate on a variety of watering methods which includes tips on watering conservation methods for drought.

She has received many awards and honors including Nationally Known Master Rosarian and the recipient of two Presidential Citations from the American Rose Society.

Her work is celebrated as the founder and former curator of Friends of the San Jose Rose Garden where she was cited for her innovative methods of keeping it simple at the San Jose Municipal Rose Garden which eventually transformed it into America’s Best Rose Garden.

Hopper has had a love affair with roses for more than 30 years. With her mantra,”keep it simple,” she believes that growing good roses need not be complicated. Whether you have one or 1,000 roses you will benefit from this very interesting lecture on how easy it is to have a beautiful rose garden.
