Learn mindfulness tools at Georgetown retreat

Join the Ariadne Retreat Center in Georgetown for a weekend retreat with John (Chopel) Bruna and experience the mindfulness tools that can help lead a meaningful life in accordance with your personal values.

The key to living a meaningful and happy life is to live in alignment with your own values. One of the most effective methods to achieve this alignment is to cultivate mindfulness in body, speech and mind.

A mindful life allows you to be present, and to actively participate in all of the moments of life. This moment, this day, is precious — it will never come again.

Bruna is a counselor, educator and spiritual teacher.

Bruna has been cultivating his spiritual path since 1984. With the motivation to live a meaningful life that benefits others, he had careers in counseling and then as a teacher in a low-income, urban high school.

In 2005, Bruna traveled to Gaden Shartse Monastery in India and was ordained as a Buddhist monk in the Tibetan Geluk tradition.

Bruna spent more than six years as a monastic and has taught throughout the United States. Having returned to life as a layperson, he now spends half of his time in silent practice and the other half sharing with others.

His personal mission statement is “to facilitate teachings that are accessible and practical, for the purpose of helping people live a meaningful life in accordance with their own values and belief systems.”

Currently, Bruna is the director of the Gaden Shartse Cultural Foundation and the spiritual director for the Way of Compassion Dharma Center.

The Retreat begins Friday evening, June 29, and concludes Sunday afternoon, July 1.
The weekend includes lodging and food.

Space is limited and pre-registration is required. To register call Ariadne Retreat Center at 530-333-2902.

For details about the retreat visit the Website at WayOfCompassionDharmaCenter.com.
