With new fly designs, Yellowstone tips and hot, steely action, the El Dorado Chapter of Trout Unlimited will hold its monthly membership meeting on Thursday, Jan. 16 at the Eldorado National Forest conference room, 100 Forni Road in Placerville.
We will be switching to a new online subscription service on Tuesday, August 5th. If you are already a subscriber with login access to MtDemocrat.com you will need to re-register under the new service. This will not affect your bill. Please take the time today to click "Subscriber Verification" to verify your subscription with us and continue your access to MtDemocrat.com before the new service takes over.
We apologize for the temporary inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience and continued support while we make this transition.

The meeting will be from 7-8:30 p.m. and after presenting Trout Unlimited’s 2014 calendar of activities, guest speakers, Morgan Thalken, noted fly designer for Umpqua Inc. and intrepid anglers Pat Weddle and Randy Hansen will make presentations.
Thalken will explain why and how new designs are developed and how they help the angler coax those huge lunkers into the net.
Weddle and Hansen will provide a power point on some hot steelhead fishing in the northern rivers of California.
If time permits, retired doctor John Murphy will describe the ins and outs of fly fishing the northeast quadrant of Yellowstone National Park.
His years of experience fishing and backpacking the entire park will be obvious as he details which flies to use, under what conditions and the best time to fish the various sections of the park. This will be the first of four presentations on fly fishing in Yellowstone.
Plan to arrive early, share some fishing stories, have a cup of Joe and some cookies and enjoy the raffles and great camaraderie.
