Reno based soul/funk trio, Mark Sexton Band, will be performing at the Cozmic Café, 594 Main St. in Placerville, on Friday, Sept. 27.

The band has become a regular staple in the Northern California music scene in recent years. Last month they supported Daptone’s Charles Bradley at Crystal Bay Club in Tahoe, as well as performing at Squaw Valley’s Brews, Jazz and Funk Festival.

The group is a touring machine, making frequent trips to Seattle, San Diego, Denver, Phoenix, Boise and everywhere in between.

To fully appreciate the band’s musical talent it must be seen.

Sexton, along with bassist Alex Korostinsky and drummer Daniel Weiss, have been playing music together since they were teenagers. Each are masters of their instrument, with jawdropping chops and a deep, subconscious group synergy that fellow musicians notice in a heartbeat.

The group performed at a private event at The Nugget Campground in July, where the audience was fortunate enough to truly “get it” and the band is coming back this month to pick up where it left off.

Doors open at 8 p.m.
