The Mature Leadership Council in Cameron Park is looking for new members. It functions to assess and help implement the interests of older adults in the greater Cameron Park area.
The first objective was to conduct a survey in December and January identifying needs and preferences of older adults for the community center. Cameron Park does not have a designated senior center. The community center was intended to incorporate provisions for this growing segment of our population.
The Mature Leadership Council was organized to prompt the managers of the Cameron Park Community Center to offer programs that serve older adults by fostering physical, social and creative activities which support life-long learning and promoting opportunities for reciprocity, recreation and relevance as individuals age.
Funding and facility options are being explored.
The council is open to those interested in applying their skills and service to achieving this vision for Cameron Park and surrounding communities.
Sharing expertise and enthusiasm will allow council members to engage with others in the community and build a network of new friends. Participation at the Cameron Park Community Center will contribute productive connections with purpose and pleasure.
The meeting is Friday, April 4 from 10-11:30 a.m. at the Cameron Park CSD, 2502 Country Club Drive in Cameron Park.
This is the Mature Leadership Council’s first Mature Events Groups and Activities open group.
Attendees will be introduced to the council’s mission and see how their experience can make a difference as a resident in this community.
