An Evening of Modern Folk and Americana featuring the Bay Area folk duo, Spark and Whisper, and the dynamic Achilles Wheel Duo with Paul Kamm and Jonny Mojo is Saturday, Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. at the Comic Café, 594 Main St. in Placerville.
Spark and Whisper is based in Northern California. Appleton and Sandwina have been performing for live audiences for more than 20 years. In Spark and Whisper, they delve into the rich territory of the modern American experience — the daily encounters and travails with technology, tradition, love, money and the natural world.
Spark and Whisper shares intimate life experience, communicates the search for soulful purpose, inspires honest exchange with the audience and brings a musical vision to the stage with energy and delight.
The Achilles Wheel Duo of Paul Kamm and Jonny Mojo are singer/songwriters and frontmen of the Northern California roots and world music rock and roll jam band, Achilles Wheel.
As an acoustic duo they bring the same high energy and engaging stage presence to a quieter place, combining a bit of country and bluegrass to the band’s famously hard driving sound.
The infectious quality of their songwriting really shines in this setting, and the diverse nature of it as well.
Kamm and Mojo work off of each other like two sides of the same coin, actively looking for and pushing each other to find the most in whatever song they’re playing.
