MontBleu has plenty to celebrate

Sidesplitting comedy and smooth jazz sets the vibe and rhythm at Lake Tahoe heading into early 2013 when MontBleu Resort Casino and Spa brings legendary pop-jazz guitarist George Benson; reggae sensation Iration; comedians Mario Cantone, Jo Koy of “Chelsea Lately” and actor/comedian Rob Schneider to its theater showroom.

The End of the World Mayan theme party at Opal with free drinks for the ladies, $1 Fireball shots, $1 Zombies and $1 Armageddons is Friday, Dec. 21.

If MontBleu survives the end of the world they’ll host its popular New Year’s Eve Nightclub Party — three-parties-in-one: Opal Ultra Lounge, blu nightclub and the 14,000 square foot convention center for high-spirited revelry to ring 2013.

This year MontBleu will have a Brazilian theme, “2013 Starts with Some Spice,” to flavor the evening with live music, free party favors, champagne, go-go dancers and body painting all night/morning long.

Fast-paced, energetic funny-man Mario Cantone brings his impersonations of  family members, celebrities and stereotypes to MontBleu, Jan. 19. Cantone played Anthony Marentino on “Sex and the City” along with multiple appearances on “Comedy Central” and “Chappelle’s Show.”

Iration returns to MontBleu bringing a tropical vibe of reggae, dub and rock on Feb. 15.

Ten-time Grammy Award-winning jazz man George Benson brings his soulfully smooth guitar sound and silky voice on Feb. 17.

In a career that spans five decades, Benson used his jazz roots as the foundation for an engaging mix of pop, R&B and other shades that add up to a distinct style all his own. With hits like “Breezin,” “On Broadway,” “Give Me the Night” and “Never Give Up on a Good Thing,” Benson has established himself as a formidable jazz singer — one whose biggest career hits have showcased his vocals as well as his guitar chops.

Picked by the Daily Variety as one of “10 Comics to Watch,” Jo Koy’s explosive on-stage presence is a combination of insightful musings on popular culture and family-inspired humor without boundaries. He’ll bring his high-energy to MontBleu on Feb. 23.

Koy’s regular appearances on Chelsea Lately and VH1′s I Love the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s episodes have made him a recognizable figure in the comedy world as has his standup acts on Comedy Central, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Last Call with Carson Daly and BET’s Comic View, Jamie Foxx Presents: Laffapalooza.

Rob Schneider: comedian, former Saturday Night Live cast member, screenwriter and film actor returns to Tahoe, March 23, with his trademark blend of character and comedic acting. Schneider recently made a return to standup and television with his new show “Rob” which aired last January.

The End of the World Mayan theme party at Opal with free drinks for the ladies, $1 Fireball shots, $1 Zombies and $1 Armageddons is Friday, Dec. 21.
