What: Repeal Prohibition Party

Who: Mother Lode Rehabilitation Enterprises Inc.

Where: 399 Placerville Drive in Placerville

When: Wednesday, Dec. 5 from 4:30 to 8 p.m.

Cost: $20 per person or $10 for designated drivers

Information: 530-622-4848 or morerehab.org

Party in period style as you travel back in time to the days of the Prohibition Era.

Join the folks at Mother Lode Rehabilitation Enterprises Inc. as they celebrate the day the 18th amendment was repealed on Dec. 5 1933.

Four wineries — Boeger, David Girard, Gold Hill and Wofford Acres — will be offering wine tasting to celebrate the day and there will be soup, bread and appetizers to add to the period atmosphere.

MORE, 399 Placerville Drive in Placerville, will be decorated to replicate a 1933 speakeasy and a password will be needed to enter.

There will be a poker run and tickets for drawing prizes as well as live music for listening or dancing.

Vintage cars and costumes are encouraged and for those who choose to dress-up there will be prizes for the best period costumes.

Sheriff John D’Agostini and his trusty deputies may descend on the premises for a raid. Guests should prepare to see some of El Dorado County’s most upstanding citizens thrown in the pokey and they may even be called upon to help make bail.

All proceeds benefit MORE and adults with developmental disabilities in El Dorado County.

The repeal party is from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec.5.

Tickets are available at MORE and each of the participating wineries or at morerehab.org for $20 each or $10 for designated drivers. Drivers will have the opportunity to win special prizes.

Call 530-622-4848 or go to morerehab.org for tickets or more information.
