The 46th annual National Mother Lode Art Exhibition is on display at the Placerville Shakespeare Club, 2940 Bedford Ave. in Placerville, through Sunday, Aug. 26.
The exhibition is open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. including Sundays. It closes at 3 p.m. the final day of the show.
The Placerville Arts Association sponsors this annual show that attracts entries from the western United States.
The community is invited to view this exceptional show and vote for the People’s Choice Award.
California-based artist Randall Sexton served as judge. He is nationally known for the use of color and expressive brushwork in his oil paintings.
He selected the following winners:
Best of Show: Steve Walters, Cool, watercolor, “Minimall Bluegrass”
Awards of Excellence: Gemma Gylling, Valley Springs, colored pencil, “Rest Stop;” Barbara Kempe, Cool, watercolor, “Jungle Bird;” and Pat Soulsby, Stockton, pastel, “Fascination”
Awards of Merit: Cindy Brabec-King, Palisade, watercolor, “Dipping Sauce;” Kaaren Poole, Shingle Springs, gourd, “The Place To Be;” and Rod Williams, Cameron Park, pastel, “Placerville Plan”
Michelle Gillett Memorial Award: Alyceann Ginelli, Placerville, watercolor, “Fill ‘Er Up”
Connie and David Zelinsky Award: Kandi Thompson, Rancho Cordova, watercolor, “School Bus”
Placerville Arts Association Award: Diana Johnson, Folsom, watercolor, “Sunlight and Shadows”
