Mount Aukum Winery expanding markets

Mount Aukum Winery continues to draw growing support from Northern California retail wine sellers and restaurants, including Raley’s and Bel Air Markets who decided this month to increase the number of stores carrying Mount Aukum wines.

Raley’s and Bel Air together now have 10 supermarkets carrying Mount Aukum with the addition of the Raley’s on Freeport Boulevard in Sacramento and Elk Grove Boulevard in Elk Grove, plus the Bel Air on Greenhaven Drive in the Pocket area.

“Raley’s has a great reputation for understanding what their customers appreciate,” said Mount Aukum owner Terrie Prod’hon. “We’re thrilled that they believe in what we do and that they’re seeing how popular Mount Aukum wines are becoming.”

In the current, hyper-competitive marketplace, supermarkets are careful about all the products they carry, and the competition among wines is even more intense.

Those additional stores are also a good distance from the Sierra Foothills, which has been a stronghold of popularity for Mount Aukum. That, too, is a signal that wine fans across Northern California are discovering the quality and range of Mount Aukum’s wines.

“We believe we have wine for everybody, from the cult followers of some of our small releases, to fans of our superb zinfandel and our bold blends,” Prod’hon said. “It’s gratifying to see that Raley’s and Bel Air think that, too.”

Mount Aukum is a family owned and run winery that sits at 2,615 feet in the Sierra Foothills of El Dorado County.

The steep hillsides, warm sunshine, cool nights, and rocky soils make it an ideal place for vineyards and wine grapes. The stunning views from the tasting room and  patio make it an ideal place for visitors. The winery produces wines for every palate, and has won praise and awards from national critics, judges, and, most importantly, from customers.

Mount Aukum specializes in luscious zinfandels and petite sirahs, fruit-filled whites and distinctive red blends.
