Army Pvt. First Class Kayela Irene Marsh has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. on Friday, Oct. 7.
During nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat and field maneuvers and tactics.
Marsh was a platoon leader and was promoted twice upon graduation. Marsh is now stationed at Fort Lee, Va., and is training in culinary arts. Her goal is to be an Air Force 1 chef and attend Airborne school.
Marsh is the daughter of Roy and Shawna Marsh of Placerville. She attended El Dorado High School and is a 2011 graduate of Florin High School in Sacramento.
