The 2014 Sacramento County Fair is pleased to announce the following contests and is now accepting applications. All entry forms are available on the Sacramento County Fair Website at sacfair.com.

More than 100,000 guests will enjoy the Sacramento County Fair May 22 to 26 on the grounds of Cal Expo. Close to 10,000 school children enjoy free educational school tours. More than 5,000 local residents compete for awards in the livestock and competitive exhibit programs. Kids 12 and under enjoy free admission each day of the fair. This year’s theme is Let’s Eat, Have Fun and Celebrate Red White & Blue.

Contests

Saturday, May 24, Community Stage, Kid’s Talent Auditions 9 a.m.-noon.

Don’t miss the opportunity to showcase your talent and compete for cash prizes at the Sacramento County Fair’s first Kid’s Talent auditions. Auditions begin at 9 a.m. on the Community Stage. Anyone age 14 and under can participate. Come prepared with a two minute audition piece. All music must be on CD. Twelve finalists will be selected and move on to Kid’s Showcase, Sunday May 25, at 1 p.m. The winner will receive $150, corn dog on a stick, a stuffed animal, ride tickets and more. First and second runner-up contestants will also receive cash and other prizes. Reserve a slot in advance at tnovoa@sacfair.com. No walk-ins please.

Saturday, May 24, Main Stage, Corn Dog Eating Contest 5-6 p.m.

Do you have what it takes? Join us for the annual Corn Dog Eating Contest sponsored by Milo’s Corn Dogs. Contestants will go head to head in a four-minute timed event competing for $500 cash as well as bragging rights as the champion. Entry fees before May 9 are $10 and $15 afterwards. Must be 18 years of age or older.

Monday, May 26, Community Stage, sixth annual Diaper Derby 12 p.m.

Come watch as these little ones crawl in front of flashing cameras and cheering crowds. It will be the slowest and funniest 90 seconds in sports. All babies must be under 12 months old, born after May 27, 2013 and not walking. So sign up your little girl or boy and get ready to say “Go.” All babies will receive a participation ribbon and the winner will receive an additional gift.
