The heat is on. Our troops are fighting in faraway places where it is very hot. Cool neck ties and helmet coolers are a great relief for the El Dorado County service men and women.
Volunteers are needed to support the troops by helping make and prepare these items on Tuesday, Aug. 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Building, 130 Placerville Drive, Placerville.
The “Sew 4 Vets” Group and the American Sewing Guild (ASG) are supporting this effort along with the folks at the Veterans’ Memorial Building.
Local residents from the ASG will conduct the workshop and tell about this very worthwhile project. The ASG will be supplying the material, thread and other needed items. Volunteers need to bring their sewing machines with basic sewing supplies like scissors and seam rippers.
Nonsewers can help press, turn and or mark the finished product.
A lunch will be available for a $5 donation. This money will be used to pay for supplies and material the “Sew 4 Vets” use to make lap and wheel chair quilts, walker bags, bibs, and Alzheimer fidget aprons for the veteran hospitals and local veterans.
For more information and to RSVP for the workshop and lunch call Darlene Chambers at 530-622-0375. Please join us for a rewarding and fun filled day.
