Sierra Nevada Alliance presents benefit concert

By From page B4 | May 24, 2013

The Sierra Nevada Alliance presents a benefit concert featuring acoustic guitar virtuoso Alex de Grassi at the Valhalla Grand Hall in South Lake Tahoe on Saturday, May 25 at 7:30 p.m.

Often cited as one of the world’s top fingerstyle, steel-string guitarists, Grammy nominee de Grassi brings a unique voice to the art of acoustic guitar with his evocative compositions and arrangements, a highly-orchestrated sound and sheer virtuosity.

De Grassi’s trademark is an ability to create a highly orchestrated sound in his solo guitar music. His playing weaves together melody, counter-melody, bass, harmony, rhythm, and cross-rhythms creating a canvas of sound unheard of in a solo guitar performance. Using a broad palette of techniques and timbre, and driven by a unique sense of composition, his rich performances take the listener beyond the instrument.

This event will benefit the Sierra Nevada Alliance and The Sierra Fund.

General admission tickets are $25. VIP evening experience tickets are $100 and include  a pre-concert “Up Close and Personal” music and chat session with de Grassi, a signed CD and “watch the fingers” seating for the public performance.
