Soroptimist International of Placerville held its fourth annual Prom Boutique in April. The boutique is a dress give-away that helps high school girls with the high cost of attending the prom.
Once again the community generously donated dresses, shoes, accessories, manicures, hair styling, flowers and funds for this fun event.
The Soroptimists created a beautiful boutique-like atmosphere at Inter-County Title in Placerville for the young women and their mothers to come to and select a dress and accessories for their prom or graduation.
Refreshments were served for all who attended.
The club had more than 200 dresses to choose from for the 39 girls who attended the event. All the young women had the opportunity to receive free hair styling, makeup, flowers, jewelry and shoes for their special date. It also offered drawings for four manicures. Soroptimist Margie Sutter, a hair stylist, advised the girls about hair-styling and scheduled appointments.
This year Soroptimist International of Placerville increased the availability of the event to include Union Mine High School in Diamond Springs, El Dorado High School in Placerville, Golden Sierra High School in Garden Valley and Ponderosa High School in Shingle Springs.
The club accepts gently used dresses and accessories all year-long for this annual event.
Soroptimist International of Placerville is part of an international organization that focuses on improving the lives of women and girls in the community and throughout the world.
