By From page B3 | October 04, 2013

PJ’s Roadhouse, 5641 Mother Lode Drive in Placerville, presents music by Felix and the Soul Cats on Friday, Oct. 4 at 9 p.m.

Felix and the Soul Cats was founded by Felix Odion. He was captivated by the sounds from Motown and the Stax Records era.

Odion has been performing these time-tested soul, rhythm and blues, and classic and contemporary blues material going back to 1992 with his previous band Cold Sweat.

His hard-edged vocals are strong and soulfully beautiful while holding down the guitar work.

The Soul Cats consist of three other extremely talented band members.

Omar Martinez, while covering percussion, also shares the lead vocals with Odion. Martinez performed 34 years with Paul Revere and the Raiders as drummer and then lead singer. He has performed with Sting, The Righteous Brothers and still performs with Sam Moore of Sam and Dave fame.

Michael Kelly on bass guitar has played with the Drifters and spent seven years with Sacramento’s leading fusion/blues guitarist Michael Gregory.

Billy Slais’s gifted keyboard and saxophone talents have landed him work with Craig Chiqico, Elvin Bishop and Cold Blood.

There is a $5 cover charge for the Friday show. Sublimedlive with Corn Doggy Dog is playing on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 9 p.m. There is a $10 cover charge.
