Spring is here and so is the ‘Spring Art Show’

The Diamond Springs Art Association (DSAA) is presenting its Spring Art Show and Sale Friday, April 1, at the El Dorado County Government Center, Building B, 360 Fair Lane Drive in Placerville, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Robert Sandidge judged theme, floral, landscape, people, seascape, life and other paintings entered in the show.

The winners were:

Best of Show: Valerie Johnson, “Rustic Windmill.”

Theme wall: first, Valerie Johnson, “Rustic Windmill;” second, Sue Lyons, “Windmills;” third, Dar Young, “Dutch Windmill;” fourth, Joan Miller, “Grist for the Windmill.”

Floral: first, Pat Grogan, “3-D Sunflowers;” second, Valerie Johnson, “Flower Medleg;” third, Valerie Johnson, “In the Pink;” fourth, Margaretha Gatzka, “Joy of Spring.”

Landscape: first, Joyce Becker, “In the Pines;” second, Valerie Johnson, “Cool Waters;” third, Peggy Buckner, “Long Trail Home;” fourth, Marilyn Callaway, “Where Am I?”

Seascape: first, Joan Miller, “Good Day for a Sail;” second, Bonnie Valentine, “Golden Sea;” third, Virginia Larson, “Sunset Surf;” fourth, Sissy, “Mired in Isleton.”

Life: first, Joyce Becker, “Just Call Me Tony;” second, Dar Young, “Kitty;” third, Peggy Buckner, “What’s That?;” fourth Pat Grogan, “Ollie Orangatan.”

People” first, Marilyn Galloway, “Leo’s Angel;” second, Dar Young, “Three Sailors;” Virginia Larson, “Placerville Mountain Man;” fourth, Patricia Sarette, “Brother and Sister.”

Other: first, Sue Lyons, “Mosaic;” second, Sissy, “Hollyhocks ‘n’ Barnboards;” third, Pat Grogan, “Fruit of the Vine;” fourth, Vi Kersgaar, “Pear.”

The public can vote on a “People’s Choice Award” and there will be a free drawing for a painting by a local award winning artist Lee Holderman.

The show will have many reasonably priced paintings of all sizes.

The DSAA is an organization of active seniors who love art and enjoy showing their paintings.
