Summer at the Railroad Museum

SACRAMENTO – All aboard as the California State Railroad Museum celebrates summer in rail-related style with a special, one-night-only “Ales on the Rails” brew sampling event.

The sunset train ride takes place on the Sacramento Southern Railroad on Saturday evening, Aug. 18, when adult passengers will have the opportunity to sit back, relax, and enjoy views of the Sacramento River. The train departs from the Central Pacific Railroad Freight Depot on Front Street between J and K streets. As the train rolls along, guests will sample tasty appetizers provided by Crisp Catering, and three signature artisanal brews — Alkali Wit, Bee Line Blonde and Daylight Amber — will be provided by Sacramento’s newest brewery, Track 7 Brewing Company.

The special evening begins with boarding at 7:15 p.m. as the train departs promptly at 7:30 p.m.

The excursion train features a combination of vintage closed coaches with comfortable seats and open-air “gondolas” with bench-style seating. Those aboard are treated to a relaxing excursion train ride along the levees of the picturesque Sacramento River while watching the sunset on the horizon.

Tickets for this special “Ales on the Rails” train ride are $40 per person for adults (plus a $3 service charge per ticket) and include beer, appetizers, train ride and a commemorative glass.

All passengers must be 21 years or older and a photo ID must be shown when picking up tickets at Will Call.

Limited space is available and a sell-out is expected for this one-night-only event.

Proceeds from “Ales on the Rails” benefit the California State Railroad Museum Foundation whose mission is to raise funds in support of the California State Railroad Museum and California State Parks.

Advance tickets to “Ales on the Rails” are available online at californiastaterailroadmuseum.org or by calling 916-445-5995.
