Nunsense is a musical comedy by Dan Goggin. Originating as a line of greeting cards featuring a nun offering tart quips with a clerical slant, the cards caught on so quickly that Goggin decided to expand the concept into a cabaret show and eventually a full-length musical.

The original Off-Broadway production became the second-longest-running Off-Broadway show in history. Nunsense joins Sacramento Theatre Co.’s “Season of Legends, Epics and Icons” Jan. 7-Feb. 14, 2015 on the Pollock Stage.
The zany plot revolves around five of the 19 surviving Little Sisters of Hoboken, a one-time missionary order that ran a leper colony on an island south of France. They discover that their cook, Sister Julia, Child of God, accidentally killed the other 52 residents of the convent with her tainted vichyssoise while they were off playing bingo with a group of Maryknolls. With four deceased nuns on ice in the deep freeze who are still in need of burials, they decide to stage a variety show in the Mount Saint Helen’s School auditorium to raise the necessary funds.
The cast will feature Miranda Lawson (who will also be featured at the Black and Red Gala) as Sister Mary Hubert. Executive Producing Director, Michael Laun, will direct this hilarious musical.
Six-show season subscriptions, which include Nunsense, are now on sale. Individual tickets go on sale Sept. 2.
