Taste a decade of vintages

By From page B5 | August 23, 2013

Come taste all vintages of the Patriarche ever produced starting with the 2002 and ending with the 2011 at Holly’s Hill Vineyards, 3680 Leisure Lane in Placerville, on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 24 and 25 rom 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

This is the only time of the year to sample all the vintages of Holly’s Hill’s signature blend. Appetizers will be served.

Cost is $5 per person and reservations are not necessary.

Holly’s Hill specializes in producing Rhône varietal wines. The estate vineyards are planted entirely in Rhône varieties including viognier, roussanne, grenache, mourvedre, syrah and counoise. The winery produces both varietal wines, a dry rosé, and red and white blends.

The enthusiasm for Rhône varieties at Holly’s Hill started when the owners Tom and Holly Cooper shared their first bottle of Chateauneuf du Pape vintage on their honeymoon. It’s been a love affair ever since.

The Patriarche is a blend of only the highest quality estate Rhône wines of the vintage.
