Almost four years ago, Jeanne Nangle’s husband, Mark, died suddenly of throat cancer. The El Dorado Hills couple had been married 23 years and had two sons.
From the pain and sorrow of her loss and the healing that moved her forward, Jeanne Nangle wrote, “The Butterfly Silhouette,” a fable in verse about a caterpillar who needs to change, but doesn’t believe that she can.
The caterpillar goes on a transformational journey through a unpredictable and challenging garden to discover the truth within herself.
“The story just came to me,” said Nangle, 51,” and the healing part of my own journey came into it.”
The prologue to the book reads,
“Inside the beautiful garden,
for those of us who crawl,
metamorphosis is possible
when we step up to our call.”
Nangle, a life coach with a master’s degree in organizational development, said the story had to be done in a Dr. Seuss-like verse.
“That’s the way it came to me. I’ve found an authentic form of expression,” she said.
She plans to continue writing inspirational books in rhyme and recently recorded an audio version of “The Butterfly Silhouette” at the University of San Francisco media lab with the help of her oldest son. Her sons Jared and Jonah are now 21 and 15.
“They are proud of me and inspired that I am starting this new career,” said Nangle who worked for IBM for 12 years.
“The Butterfly Silhouette” can be purchased at amazon.com and barnes&noble.com for $9.99.
