By From page B12 | October 04, 2013

Gold Bug Park, 2635 Goldbug Lane in Placerville, will host an open house at its newly-expanded blacksmith shop on Sunday, Oct. 6 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Volunteer blacksmiths will demonstrate their hot-steel artisan skills and share their knowledge about the history and importance of blacksmithing to the miners in the Placerville region.

This free event begins with a dedication ceremony at 1 p.m. which will include punch and cake and free drawings for some of the finer metalwork.

Free guided tours of the Joshua Handy Stamp Mill will also be given. Guests can also take an interesting, paid self-guided audio tour of the Gold Bug mine.
