Marco’s Cafe, 7221 Highway 49 in Lotus, near the American River, presents The Hickory Wind trio will Friday Sept. 28 from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Come in and enjoy the cool river breeze and listen to Hickory Wind’s distinctive folky, country, bluegrass, and Americana style of music.

Wedgewood Weddings and Receptions at Sequoia, 643 Bee St. in Placerville, is having a wine dinner featuring vintages from Il Gioiello Winery. The lovely evening will offer a meal expertly prepared by Sequoia Chef David Bagley, pairing each course with the wines from Il Gioiello Winery in Fiddletown. Apple Hill Growers Associationis providing fun for the last weekend in September with Model A’s at Apple Pantry Farm; restored 1928-1931 Model A’s on display. Free admission. On this day and Sunday, Sept. 30, Denver Dan’s Apple Patch will celebrate Denver Dan’s 80th Birthday and his ranch’s 50th anniversary. Cake and cider, music, balloons, animals, face painting and pony rides will be offered. Fountain Tallman Museum, 524 Main St. in Placerville, will be the start of the El Dorado Historical Society guided tours of Main Street. The tour begins at 11:30 a.m. and lasts about 90 minutes. The tour guides are dressed in period costume and describe historic locations on Main Street between Cedar Ravine and Sacramento Street. A suggested donations to the museum of $2 per adult or $5 per family is requested.

Boeger Winery, 1709 Carson Road in Placerville, is celebrating 40 years of crafting beautiful wines on Saturday, Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be free wine tasting and winery tours, including a visit to the crush pad from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and visitors can taste freshly crushed grape juice. Dedrick’s Main Street Cheese and Bonne Vie Crepes and more will yummy items to purchase to go with the wine. The event is free and no reservations are required. Music in the Courtyard in the Fountain Plaza Courtyard, 312 Main St. in Placerville, is having the Tepid Club of Cool playing on Saturday, Sept. 29 from 1 to 4 p.m. This venue is wonderful for music and there are refreshments from the surrounding merchants. Admission is free, but food and beverages will be provided at a cost. For more details call 530-622-4900.

Wine and Sunsets at Lava Cap Winery, 2221 Fruitridge Road in the Camino area, is presenting Parallel Planes on Saturday, Sept. 29 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. For more information call 530-621-0175.

Miraflores Winery, 2120 Four Springs Trail in the Pleasant Valley area, will scheduled to have SEven Classical Guitars perform at 6 p.m. Guests can purchase a box dinner created by Giovanni of couscous with pistachio and dried apricot grilled chicken wings with pepper and lemon and Giovanni’s hand-made biscotti. The Wine Smith, 346 Main St. in Placerville, is pleased to announce for one night only Memphis musician and vocalist, Jim Mills. He is scheduled to appear from 7 to 10 p.m. He will be performing with a special group of local Foothill musicians. His repertoire spans gospel, country, blues and rock ‘n’ roll and delivers it all with Sierra Foothills feel. Cover is $5. For more information, call 530-622-0516.

Powell’s Steamer Pub, 425 Main St. in Placerville, presents Out of the Blue scheduled at t 9 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.

Sunday

Cielo Estate, 3040 Ponderosa Road in Shingle Springs, is presenting the Sierra Symphony Pops Orchestra at 5 p.m. This concert will feature tunes from Broadway musicals and other American favorites. There will be a barbecue supper available for purchase or guests can bring their own picnic to enjoy and dogs are welcome. Tickets are $12 for general admission, $10 for Cielo wine club members and Veteran’s with ID; and children and high school students are free.Tickets can be purchased in advance from Cielo Estate and Sabado School of Music in Cameron Park and at the door the day of the event.

Monday

Gold Country Artists Gallery will feature Karen Hunziker from Monday, Oct. 1 through Sunday, Nov. 4. Hunziker works in mixed media consisting of ink, watercolor pens and pastel. Russian scenes and folk art are her passion and she tries to add a little whimsey to each intricate drawing. Also featured is jewelry maker, Lorrene Davis, whose specialty is beautiful silver and polymer clay jewelry. Davis, who gives classes in this fine art, has published a book and many articles on her techniques. The gallery is located at 379 Main Street in historical downtown Placerville and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with extended hours to 9 pm on 3rd Saturday Art Walk for our featured artists reception.
