Gold Country Artists Gallery, 379 Main St. in Placerville, Aug. 6 through Sept. 2, will feature outstanding oil painter Bruce Gruenzel. His realistic style is influenced by the old Dutch and Russian masters. Donna Bamford, also featured creates original sculptural forms in mixed media using clay and natural materials. The sixth annual American River Music Festival is Sept. 14, 15 and 16, and will present more than 25 folk, Americana and blues performances and workshops in 11 locations throughout the river community of Coloma. Music takes place at the main stage at Henningsen-Lotus Park, 950 Lotus Road, in river front campgrounds, on the “gorge” whitewater river trip and on the guided riverfront hike. The festival offers something for everyone with riverfront camping, a whitewater river trip, a guided riverfront hike, wine tasting to music, great kid’s activities including the kid’s parade, “live” art, a European style art market, jams, fun music workshops, excellent food and beverages and an incredible open mic night. The three-day camping/all music ticket is just $99 for adults and $49 for youth. Main stage single-day tickets are $30 adults, $15 youth. The festival is the project of American River Music Inc., a charitable organization, based in Lotus, with a mission, “to teach, inspire and enjoy music.”
