Gold Country Artists Gallery, 379 Main St. in Placerville, Sept. 3 through 30, is showing the lively, colorful and dramatic watercolors of Joyce Bahnsen. Bahnsen’s career in the arts has spanned many years. She has taught interior design and has won numerous awards and commissions. Also featured is painter Blanche Kawahara. El Dorado Arts Council’s ArtSpace, 459 Main St. in Placerville, is exhibiting “Colors of the Soul” — an all media exhibition of the journey of healing through Oct. 6. SATURDAY

The El Dorado Historical Society is conducting guided tours of Main Street in Placerville on Saturdays until the end of September. The tour begins at the Fountain/Tallman Museum at 11:30 a.m. and lasts about 90 minutes. Tour guides are dressed in period costume and describe historical locations on Main Street between Cedar Ravine and Sacramento Street. Although the tour is free, donations to the Fountain/Tallman are encouraged at a suggested rate of $2 per adult or $5 per family.
