Gold Country Artists Gallery, 379 Main St. in Placerville, through March 2, is featuring an all gallery show, “Love is in the Air.” Lorrene Davis’ greeting card image of her parents called “Mom and Dad in Love” expresses the Valentine theme of romance. The gallery has an extensive selection of seasonal greeting cards as well as fine art paintings, photographs, pottery, jewelry, wood and glass. The cooperative gallery of local professional artists is open daily from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. with extended hours until 9 p.m. for Third Saturday Art Walk on March 15. Trails for Tails — A Free Dog-Friendly Hiking Trail Presentation is Saturday, Feb. 22 from 10:30 a.m.-noon at the California Welcome Center, 2085 Vine St., Suite 105, in El Dorado Hills. Author Debbi Preston will offer the benefits and tips about dogs and their humans hiking together. There will be light human refreshments and doggie cookies and water. The American River Conservancy is having a hike on Saturday, Feb. 22 on its newest acquisition — the 1,059 acre El Dorado Ranch. This property fronts the free-flowing Cosumnes River and is a working cattle ranch with a 360 degree view of the Sierra Nevada and Sacramento Valley, a historic homestead and a vast expanse of blue oak woodland. The El Dorado Ranch Hike is approximately 5 miles with some uphill climbs and rocky terrain. It is suitable for ages 8 and up. For the meeting location and to sign up call 530-621-1224.
