For those looking for a fun summer evening with great entertainment and delicious food Imagination Theater has the perfect event on Friday, Aug. 17 from 6 to 9 p.m.

The El Dorado County theater company is presenting A Garden Affair at the theater located on the El Dorado County Fairgrounds, 100 Placerville Drive in Placerville

This event gives the public the perfect opportunity to have fun and support the  family-oriented, non-profit theater group.

This is the fifth annual silent and live auction fundraiser.

The tickets are $25 per person and include catered appetizers, non-alcoholic beverages and a glass of wine.

The theme for this year’s function is a garden to honor of IT’s upcoming production “The Secret Garden,” which opens this september.

Guests are invited to dress casually and relax while the theater’s performers sing from “The Secret Garden.”

There will also be many nice items up for auction with the proceeds helping to offset theater expenses.

Some of the prizes in the silent and live auctions are different gift bags such as golf packages at local golf courses, a wine tasting evening for eight people, massage gift coupons, a three-night stay in Ashland, Ore. during the Shakespeare Festival that includes dinner, play, and backstage tour, jewelry from local stores, wonderful quilts and of course theater packages for the Imagination theater.

In addition to that, there will be a lot of raffle prices donated by El Dorado County merchants. Six tickets can be purchased for $10.

“A Garden Affair” is the theater’s major fundraiser for this year. Imagination Theater is in the heart of the Placerville community and enriches it with a dedication to the performing arts.

With the community’s continued support the theater will be able to continue its successful work, according to Lanny Langston of Imagination Theater.

Tickets are available at the door or in advance by calling the IT box office at 530-642-0404.

If you can’t attend the event a donation can be sent to PO Box 3303, Diamond Springs, 95619. Donations are tax deductible.
