‘Disney Pixar’s Toy Story 3!’ is hitting the ice

By From page B9 | February 03, 2012

Disney On Ice presents “Disney Pixar’s Toy Story 3!” The Academy Award winning blockbuster, “Toy Story 3,” and memorable moments from “Toy Story” and “Toy Story 2″ are hitting the ice in this sensational live production.

“We’ve all grown up watching the ‘Toy Story’ movies,” said producer Kenneth Feld. “Now our families – grandparents, parents and kids alike – can re-live those incredible memories together.”

In order to bring the “Toy Story” world from screen to skates, this toypalooza relied heavily on the research and creativity of Director Patty Vincent.

For Vincent, translating the animated film to the ice was a detailed process.

“I watched the movie several times to get a sense for the feel of the film, as well as the characters and how they relate to each other,” said Vincent. “I studied their movements and how they interact with one another, and combined all of that in order to be able to deliver the humor and heart of the film and its characters to the live audience.”

The production comes to Stockton Arena in Stockton on Thursday, Feb 9 to Sunday, Feb. 12. Show times for the shows are 7 p.m. on all dates except for Feb. 11 and 12, when show times 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Feb. 11 and 1 and 5 p.m. on Feb. 12.

Its next stop will be at Power Balance Pavilion in Sacramento on Wednesday, Feb. 15 to Monday, Feb. 20. Show times are 7 p.m. on Feb. 15 and 16. On Feb. 17, shows run at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. On Feb. 18 and 19, shows run at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Feb. 20 shows are noon and 4 p.m.

Catch all the heroic action when Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Jessie and the Toy Story gang escape from the rambunctious tots of Sunnyside Daycare and race for home, in their most daring adventure ever.

A few new faces join the fun, including Barbie’s groovy bachelor Ken and Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear.

It’s the biggest Toy Story experience on ice, jam-packed with fast-paced adventure such as Buzz’s galactic battle with Emperor Zurg and a hoe-down at Woody’s Roundup.

Tickets are $14, $17, $23, $40 (VIP) and $65 (front row). Opening night tickets available for only $10 each — not valid on premium seating.
