Dan Crary, Keith Little and Hugh Hoeger are playing at the Cozmic Café, 594 Main St. in Placerville, on Saturday, Nov. 3 from 7:30 to 9:30.
It is no exaggeration to say Crary has been one of the major driving forces in the evolution and popularity of the steel stringed guitar. His distinctively powerful, yet elegant, style has influenced an entire generation of players.
He is a dynamic veteran performer, appearing worldwide as a soloist and in well-known ensembles such as Berline, Crary, and Hickman — IBMA instrumental band of the year California, The Bluegrass Alliance, Men of Steel, plus many other collaborations with well-known artists, as well as many highly regarded recording projects.
Joining Crary on vocals, banjo, and mandolin is Little. Hailing from Georgetown, Little is a nationally acclaimed bluegrass musician, recording artist and composer.
Over a career spanning 40 years, Little has been an important member of many national touring bands (Country Gentlemen, Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder, Lonesome Standard Time), and has performed on the Grammy award-winning recordings “The Grass is Blue” and “Little Sparrow” by Dolly Parton, and “Another Country” by the Chieftains.
An amazing vocalist, Little appears regularly with duo partner Jim Nunally, and is also a featured member of the David Grisman Bluegrass Experience.
Filling out the trio, on mandolin, bass and guitar, is Hoeger, long time member of the Piney Creek Weasels, Left of Cool and other area groups.
