Truckee RibFest set for Father’s Day

April 26, 2011 |

TRUCKEE – The second annual Truckee RibFest is slated for Father’s Day, June 19 at Citizens Bank Plaza from 1 to 6 p.m. This fun and casual foodie event will offer folks a chance to sample delicious ribs prepared by the best chefs in the area — a perfect afternoon outing for hungry dads and their families.

Last year an estimated 500 people got their oink on at the inaugural event. This year, event organizer Switchback PR + Marketing Inc. plans to reprise the tasty event formula, adding a few tweaks that will please both vendors and attendees.

“People responded in a big way to the first Truckee RibFest,” said Brinn Wellise, president of Switchback PR + Marketing Inc. “Rib vendors are already signing up, and we just know that competition will be even more fierce than last year.”

Event organizers have lined up a number of excellent caterers and restaurants that will offer their own creative variations on ribs. The event will feature judging by industry professionals for best ribs in addition to a People’s Choice award.

A beer garden, children’s activity area, free entertainment and more will round out the festivities.

The event committee at the Citizens Bank Plaza has chosen Truckee Boosters Club to be the event’s non-profit beneficiary.

Adult admission is $12 in advance and $15 on the day of the event. Admission includes entry, plus two food tickets. Each two-rib sampler costs two tickets. Tasty sides can be purchased for one ticket. Admission for children 12 and under is $10 in advance and $12 on the day of the event. Children’s tickets include entry, access to a fun activity center, plus one special food ticket that can be redeemed for hot dogs, pizza and other kid-friendly options. And for the many folks who won’t be satisfied with just one two-rib sampler, additional food tickets are available at $5 for two tickets.

For more information or tickets visit truckeeribfest.com; a nominal $3 service fee applies for online ticket sales. Those who order advanced tickets online will receive a complimentary Truckee RibFest beer mug at the event (first come first served).

The Truckee RibFest is a fundraising event produced by Switchback Public Relations + Marketing Inc.
