Understanding care giver role

By From page B2 | February 03, 2014

Based on community feedback and the increased need for experience in care giving, Elder Options is sponsoring an educational forum “Introduction to Care Giving Skills” on Tuesday, Feb. 25 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Cameron Park Community Services District, 2502 Country Club Drive in Cameron Park.

Taught by Roberta Rimbault, MS, this class will focus on what care givers need to know either at the beginning of care or to develop the knowledge and skill to develop these skills as a new profession.

Introduction to Care Giving Skills is the key to opening the door to older adulthood, to understanding the issues around getting older, how to be safe, physically active, maintain good health and dietary habits as well as recognizing the independent spirit within or with others you’re working with.

It is geared toward the older individual, adults who are helping to provide the care and individuals wanting to learn more about the growing field of older adults.

Future classes on practicalities, diseases, independence and hands-on care will give attendees the skills they need as a formal or informal caregiver.

All classes are open and available to the community at large.
Cost is $35. Registration can be done through Cameron Park CSD at 530-350-4655 or the day of the class.
