Visit Tahoe artists during tour

By Walt Stevenson

The artist group Tahoe Art League, celebrating its 50th anniversary, announces its 2014 Artist Studio Tour for two weekends July 25, 26 and 27 and Aug. 1, 2 and 3 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. each day.

Attendees will visit 20-40 local artists in South Lake Tahoe locations to talk with them and view their sculpture, oils, watercolors, dye on silks, drawings, photography, jewelry and related works.

Art works will be for sale. Some artists will do demonstrations of their specialty. Visitors can participate in the passport drawings with prizes for loyal visitors.

The tour is self-guided; a map will guide attendees from one location to another throughout the day.

Pick up maps online at talart.org or at TAL Art Center, 3062 Highway 50, South Lake Tahoe.

Local renowned artists included are watercolorist and oil painter Dave Russo, marble sculptor David Foster, oil painter Kit Knight, watercolorist and dye-on-silk painter Nina Major, pastel painter Bonita Paulis and wood turner Malcolm Tibbits.

The Tahoe Art League was formed in 1964. TAL is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting fine art and art education in the community. TAL provides a free monthly art demonstration for the public, ongoing workshops and classes, operates two art galleries, exhibits and sells art throughout town, participates in numerous summer outdoor shows, provides art scholarships to aspiring young artists, and has activities for all ages, needs and talents.
