Youth orchestra to play at Three Stages

The Folsom Lake College Youth Chamber Orchestra will present its debut concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28 at Three Stages on Stage 1 at Folsom Lake College.

The 16-member youth orchestra, comprised of 12 violinists, three cellists and one bassist, was formed to inspire music appreciation and excellence among children ages 12 to 18, and to increase community awareness of and participation in the musical experiences of area youth.

Under the direction of Evgeniy Sporov, a master teacher for the ensemble class at Folsom Lake College’s classical masters music festival and a faculty member at the Pacific Institute of Music, the orchestra’s mix of seventh through 12th graders meet twice per week to rehearse and share their love of music.

A diverse group, the students hail from several Sacramento County schools, including: Vista, Folsom, Jesuit, Granite Bay, Mira Loma high schools, Sacramento Waldorf School, Folsom Middle School, Churchill Middle School and California Virtual Academy.

The orchestra’s debut concert will be the first of what is expected to become a longstanding Three Stages tradition.

The Folsom Lake College Youth Chamber Orchestra is made possible by a generous donation from the Robert S. and Star Pepper Foundation.

Tickets for the concert cost $19, and may be purchased online at threestages.net or by phone at 916-608-6888. Parking passes for the concert cost $1, and may be purchased at one of the several kiosks available throughout campus lots.

Three Stages is located on the campus of Folsom Lake College, 10 College Parkway in Folsom.
