Fun article. My favorite part is this observation. "“There’s no snob appeal here..." This is how I feel about Pollock Pines. So Im confused when people try to change it. There are so many things that we have done--to represent our town (parades, family events, logging days, wagon train weekend events, chili cook offs)--why would groups want to change that, for everything looking the same--there is no creativity in that concept at all. Fun article. I would read a weekly article mentioning more places to go here in El Dorado.

You forgot some of the most important businesses in El Dorado, Salon Rogue next to Poor Red's has a large following, run by Evelyn Turnboo spouse of George Turnboo. George has owned and managed George's Pit Stop for 30 plus years in that prime location at the corner of Hwy 49 and Pleasant Valley Rd. where he always is helping and assisting out of town travelers and probably has more local people coming through his shop on a daily basis than most other automotive repair and smog stations in the county. With 8 generations in EDC, that spot is probably the most visited in the entire town on any given weekday. The typical nosy news and happenings in EDC are heard every day. This little community is as varied and typical of many across this country but aside from it's nationally known Poor Red's the investigation of the businesses mentioned there are many other that could have been mentioned that have significant histories and value.
